Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England to Celebrate 100 Years of Changing the World!

Warwick, RI (May 5, 2016) — On May 12th, Girl Scouts from across Southeastern New England will receive their Gold Awards and celebrate among friends and family the centennial of this important and pivotal Girl Scout tradition. This extra special event will be held at the RI State House from 3:00-7:00pm, and will welcome the honorable Governor Gina M. Raimondo to speak before the 2016 Gold Award recipients and guests.

Next Thursday, Riverside resident, Emily O’Connell, will join the millions of Girl Scout alumnae who have created, developed, and executed “Take Action” projects that have positively impacted their communities and the world, earning Girl Scouts’ highest award.

“The young women throughout Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England whom we will honor next week are taking matters into their own hands and being the change our world needs.” – said Pam Hyland, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England.

Our council is excited to highlight the accomplishments of these girls and to join with them in celebrating 100 years of Girl Scout Gold Award excellence, innovation, and visionary leadership in 2016. Through this tradition, we hope to continue empowering future generations of girls to follow their dreams, discover their passions, and make a global impact.
