20 Years of Spook-tacular Family Fun of Boo at the Zoo

Buttonwood Park Zoological Society to host annual Boo at the Zoo Event weekends this October

Posted

New Bedford, Massachusetts: Buttonwood Park Zoo’s annual Halloween event, Boo at the Zoo, has been bringing “slightly spooky” fun to SouthCoast families for 20 years. Growing from a single evening event in 2001 to a multi-day, multi-week daytime extravaganza with extensive decorations and campus-wide trick or treating in 2021, Boo at the Zoo has delighted an entire generation.

Beginning on Saturday, October 16, 2021, Boo at the Zoo, which is presented by Bristol County Savings Bank, will take place on Saturdays and Sundays through Halloween from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Advance ticket purchase is strongly encouraged as capacity will be limited to ensure all guests can maintain appropriate space while enjoying the event. Ticket prices are $17 for adults and $13 for children two and over. BPZOO members enjoy a $5 discount on each ticket, as well as complimentary admission to all other weekend Boo activities, for those that attended and are listed on their membership card. Event information is available at www.bpzoo.org/whats-new/boo-at-the-zoo/.

“We would like to congratulate Buttonwood Park Zoo for providing 20 years of family fun with Boo at the Zoo,” said Patrick Murray, President & CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank. “It’s also the Bank’s 175th anniversary and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than supporting, for the thirteenth straight year, this fun diversion for kids during these uncertain times. Let’s all join in on the fun and help provide an even wider array of zoo programming for the local community in the future.”

Boo at the Zoo will include your little ghouls and goblins favorite Halloween activity – trick or treating at a variety of candy stations – as well as mazes, obstacle courses, a photo costume contest, Halloween-themed animal enrichment and up-close meet and greets with some of your favorite Zoo Animal Ambassadors. For anyone interested in flexing their creative muscles, BPZOO is also hosting a pumpkin decorating contest. With four categories and age groups – entries will be displayed around the Zoo for the entire length of the event. Entries are due by Tuesday, October 12th. For more information on the pumpkin decorating contest, please click here.

BPZOO will also be hosting a Baby Boo event this year as well, on Friday, October 29th from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Designed with the littlest monsters in mind, this event is geared towards children five and under, giving them a chance to experience Boo at the Zoo with children of their same age. All ages are welcome at this event. Advanced tickets are strongly encouraged and can be purchased here.

Volunteer opportunities are available for full day and half day shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from October 16th thru October 31st , as well as for Baby Boo for Friday, October 29th. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, click here.
