(February 6, 2020) – It’s spring at last! Bring the family and enjoy sweet maple sugaring, join a nature class for tots, or enjoy stargazing on a cool spring evening. The warmer weather is on its way, so pull on some boots, head outside, and enjoy nature with Audubon!

Citizens Bank Free Family Fun Day
Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium, Bristol, RI
March 7, 2020; 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Thanks to Citizens Bank, the Nature Center and Aquarium is open free to the public the first Saturday of every month. Join Audubon for crafts, nature stories, animal discoveries, hikes and more. No need to register!

Nature Tots
Audubon Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge, Exeter, RI
March 5, 12, 19, 26, April 2, 9, 2020; 10:00 – 11:00 am

Join Audubon at Fisherville Brook for this engaging program that introduces children, ages 2 to 5 to the delights of nature through age appropriate, hands-on-activities. Along with a nature lesson, activities may include a nature walk, songs and stories. This is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends with other children and parents. Registration is required as space is limited and fills quickly. There are no refunds for missed classes. In order to maintain an age-appropriate program, we ask that older siblings not accompany the parent/child team.
Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge, 99 Pardon Joslin Road, Exeter, RI; Fee for six week series: $60/member child, $76/two member siblings; $65/non-member child, $82/two non-member siblings. Ages: 2 to 5. Register online through the events calendar at www.asri.org.

Preschool Adventures
Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium, Bristol, RI
March 10, 17, 24, 31, 2020; 10:00-11:00 am

Nature will come alive for children ages 3-5. Children will participate in games, hikes, crafts, songs, hands-on activities and more as they are introduced to the wonders of nature. Space is limited to 12 children so please register early. Adults must accompany children and there are no refunds for missed classes. Younger siblings are not permitted to attend.

Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring on Prudence Island

Come celebrate the extra daylight with an afternoon on Prudence Island! Explore whatever areas mother nature deems suitable for travel, which will likely include forest, salt marsh and shoreline. With a late afternoon low tide, we'll be sure to stop by the south end to enjoy the basking harbor seals just offshore.

Audubon Maple Sugaring
Audubon Caratunk Wildlife Refuge, Seekonk, MA
March 14, 2020; 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Step back in time at the Caratunk Wildlife Refuge to experience the history of maple sugaring. Discover how Native Americans started maple sugaring and how to make this sweet syrup in your own backyard. Taste first hand this delectable treat over muffins and other tasty treats - all with fresh maple syrup. Tours begin every 15 minutes starting at 9:00 am. Please register in advance, this is a popular program and space is limited. Rhode Island maple syrup will be available for purchase.

Stargazing at Caratunk
Audubon Caratunk Wildlife Refuge, Seekonk, Ma
March 29, 2020; 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Learn about the winter constellations at Caratunk and then head outdoors to view the moon, Venus and more. Francine Jackson, Staff Astronomer at Brown University will lead this evening program. There will be telescopes available, but feel free to bring your own. Please dress for the weather. Hot drinks and light snacks will be provided.

Li’l Peeps
