Two Local Businesses Give Back During the Holiday Season

Posted

Swansea Wood School a program of Justice Resource Institute is a non-profit therapeutic coed residential school for adolescents coping with trauma, mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and/or mild to moderate cognitive challenges. While not only offering opportunity to progress academically, cognitive ability is increased by providing individualized support through clinical, vocational, milieu, and educational experiences. The staff at the school work hard to provide these adolescents with the support they need, as well as make it a home for them.

What better time of the year to open your heart than during the holiday season? Well, that’s just what 2 local waste haulers as well as 2 local families that are friends of the program did! Waste Connections (MEGA) located in Seekonk, MA as well as ABC Disposal located in New Bedford, MA, and 2 local families opened their hearts and the Christmas gifts continued to pour in. The staff at the Swansea Wood School were completely taken back by the overwhelming amount of generosity. We are extremely thankful to all of the people that were so willing to lend a helping hand. All of the people involved in donating these gifts played a huge part in allowing us to make Christmas great for the kids, we were able to complete the entire wish list and then some! No act of kindness is too small, just know you were all a part of putting a smile on the face of these children. At the end of the day seeing a child smile is worth more than anything.
