Seekonk Selectmen Delay Vote on Chickens

Posted

Seekonk - Selectmen have delayed a vote to amend the town’s zoning bylaws to allow residents to keep a limited number of chickens on their properties. The board will now decide the matter at their September 18 meeting.

Animal Control Officer Sharonlynne Hall provided the selectmen with documents just hours before last Wednesday’s meeting. “We need time to digest the information we’ve been given,” explained selectman David Viera. Selectman Nelson Almeida told Hall the board needed dimensions for the size of the coops. If approved, the proposed bylaw change will be placed before the voters at the fall town meeting.

Michael Gould was appointed and sworn in as the town’s newest third class probationary firefighter/paramedic. The North Attleboro resident began on September 7.
