Patrick is a Lucky Dog at Seekonk Animal Shelter

Posted

Most of us dread Friday the 13th but this was Patrick’s Lucky day because he was rescued! Patrick is a white male bull terrier with some brown spots, about 1 to 1-1/2 years old. He was found starving to death and shivering from the cold on a wooded back road near a cow farm. Patrick was dehydrated; extremely thin and covered in urine, manure, burns and sores from sitting in his own waste… he may have been lying in the cow manure to stay warm. He went immediately to the veterinary hospital and despite everything he had been through, he was licking the staff faces with his tail wagging.

In one month, Patrick has come a long way with all the love and care he received from the vet, shelter staff and volunteers. Despite his ordeal, he has a great personality, is friendly and enjoys playing with toys and loves treats. He knows basic commands and is house broken. He walks well on his harness and loves to go for walks.

Due to Patrick dealing with starvation, it was determined during his evaluation that he is food aggressive towards other animals: he is fine with adults and older children. He does not like cats and must be the only pet due to his food aggression with animals. His ideal home will be as an only pet with no small children because they unknowingly will often tease dogs with food.

Patrick Is now at a healthy weight, up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped—and now he is ready to find a loving home. If you are ready to open your heart and home to this sweet boy, please stop by the Seekonk Animal Shelter at 100 Peck St, Seekonk MA. Phone: 508-336-6663. Open daily 2:00-4:00 except Wednesday 3:00-6:00.
