Two Big Winners in the 2015 Seekonk Lions Fishing Derby

Posted

The Seekonk Lions Club held its Third Annual Doug Allen Fishing Tournament on Patriots day to a “weathered crowd” of 85 kids both young and old hoping to have the best catch of the day.

With many saying “I had a bite” and “almost had it”, we had two big winners in the two hour event. We call him The King, Matt Dumond. Matt pulled in two fish 14" and 13.25" respectively. Matt is definitely a young journey man and loves showing us how it is done.

But the new man to watch is Conner Sears. This young fisher pulled in a 12.5" beauty. We all know as fisherman, you have to "put it in the net" to make it count and Matt and Conner made it happen.

The Lions would like to thank the Stop and Shop guys from the North End in helping us out this year, the Seekonk DPW for supplying sound system and cones; Also Honey Dew Donuts (we never saw donuts go so fast before), McDonalds and Young Caterers for the punch, great coffee and hot chocolate. And of course, Orange Leaf FROYO, the Seekonk Grand Prix, Battle Ground Lazer Tag, Ryans' Amusements for donating some great prizes.

Hope to see everyone back next year!
