Town Meeting Approves $48 Million Budget

Town meeting last month approved a $48 million budget for fiscal year 2016, which is a 6 percent increase over the current year. Voters approved $50,000 towards construction of a new Veterans Memorial, which is expected to cost $137,000. Also approved was an article authorizing the purchase of equipment for the police department, fire department, public works and school department. An article seeking legislative authority to create a nine-member commission to review the town charter was defeated. An article allocating $45,000 from the community preservation fund for the Seaconke area trails was postponed indefinitely.
