5th Annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival Promises a Bloomin’ Good Time!

Posted

March 19, 2018, Newport, RI – With nearly 900,000 daffodils ready for their spring-time debut throughout Newport, Daffodillion announced its preliminary schedule of events for its Fifth Annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival, April 14-22.

And it promises to be the biggest and daffiest ever! The Festival will be “off and running” on Saturday morning, April 14, with The Newport Rhode Races marathon, half marathon and 5K through daffodil-lined streets. That afternoon, the cutting of the daffodil ribbon and the firing of muskets officially open the Festival at Bannister’s and Bowen’s wharves in downtown Newport. From there, enjoy a parade of Daffy Dressed Doggies (and owners) as they march to Queen Anne Square to continue their yappy, daffy time.

Other Festival highlights scheduled for the next eight days (all free!) include:

Daffodillion, Newport’s civic beautification campaign, is getting ever closer to its one million daffodil goal thanks to all those who have planted bulbs during the past 10 years,” said Project Director John Hirschboeck. “Everyone’s hard work in the fall yields a bounty of beauty each April. The Festival is our community-wide celebration of spring, enticing winter-weary tourists and local residents to emerge from hibernation, view the hundreds of thousands of daffodils and just have a daffy good time.”
