Posted

Shirley Ann McDonald, 79, of Seekonk, Massachusetts, passed away at her home on June 23, 2020 with loved ones and her partner of over 40 years Geraldine “Gerri” Tapalian. She was born in Providence on October 27, 1940 and raised by her aunt/godmother, the late Muriel Hodde, along with her sister, the late Muriel Gosslin and brother, Paul Grenier of CT. She also leaves, from a blended family, Sharon Borowick of Warwick and Thomas Hodde of Cumberland, as well as 7 nieces and nephews: Nicole, Shana, Stephanie, Tammy, Shannon, Amanda, Steven and 4 great nieces and 4 great nephews.

Shirley worked at Nyman Manufacturing of East Providence as a forklift operator for over 25 years, until retiring in 2003. She loved to play Bingo, and to travel, and took many trips with family and friends including camping and long Saturday drives.

Shirley was an amazing, caring person and would give you the shirt off her back if she felt you needed it. Although those close to her knew to not ask her opinion if they weren’t ready for her answer, a family trait passed on from Muriel Hodde ( Mom). Her charisma will not be forgotten and she will truly be missed.

The funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beacon Hospice, Amedisys Foundation, 182 North Main Street, Fall River, Massachusetts 02720 in her memory will be appreciated.
