Robert S. Burroughs M.D.

Robert S. Burroughs M.D. of Seekonk, Massachusetts passed into eternal life on Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was the husband of the late Carol Ann (Kenney) Burroughs who predeceased him in 2002.

Dr. Burroughs was born in Gloversville, New York, the son of the late Sheldon Burroughs and Rose (Lepore) Burroughs. He was a 1960 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, and Boston University Medical School. Dr. Burroughs served his residency at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence and was an Internist in private practice in Pawtucket for over 40 years. He was on the staff at the former Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in Pawtucket. Dr. Burroughs was a Captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Pawtucket Country Club.

Dr. Burroughs is survived by his children; Christopher J. Burroughs of Attleboro, Massachusetts, James S. Burroughs of Seekonk, Massachusetts, Brian R. Burroughs of Holden, Massachusetts and Leigh Ann Burroughs of Provincetown, Massachusetts. He also leaves his grandchildren, Alexandra, Ashleigh, Jane, William and Samuel, his two sisters Beverly Kane and Bernadette Plesniak and his faithful dog Fenway. Dr. Burroughs was the brother of the late William Burroughs.

The funeral for Dr. Burroughs will be Friday, May 25th at 9:00 am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Martyr’s Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk at 10:00 am. His burial will be with full Military Honors in Seekonk Cemetery, Newman Avenue, Seekonk.
