Revisiting the Mission Statement at the Memorial Park

Posted

“To preserve the honor, dignity and respect for those individuals from our community and beyond, that have served our country, residents of Seekonk left home during war to serve our country and did not return.

Their names are listed on the memorial wall. Others have served during war and peace time and did return, however, their lives have been forever changed.

This Memorial, dedicated on May 28, 2016 to all of those men and women from Seekonk who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America in the past, present and the future, during war and peace. This Memorial shall serve as a reminder to all of us that “freedom is not free.””

COMMENT:
Preserve "Honor, Dignity and Respect." What better location in Seekonk could have been chosen than at the present location? The committee met the objective of the mission statement and I say “EXCELLENT JOB". We must remember that this memorial must continue to have a peaceful, somber, and restful atmosphere.
This is not the place to locate a weapon of war. Weapons are part of military history, but they belong in or near museums, not at memorial walls.

Please keep it as it is and vote not to place the Howitzer at this memorial.
