Poor Sound at Seekonk Town Meeting Criticized

Posted

The audio quality at Monday’s Town Meeting was criticized by Board of Selectmen Chair Michael Healy.

The meeting was held in the auditorium of Seekonk High School and was later broadcast on TV9. A buzzing noise can be heard throughout the video.

Healy said TV9’s equipment was not to blame.

“I guess there’s been a long-standing grounding issue in the auditorium, one of the outlets, either hasn’t been corrected or looked into,” Healy explained.

“To discuss a $67 million budget for four hours and expect people to sit there and tolerate that, to me is unacceptable in this community. To be honest, even I couldn’t hear some people speaking and I was sitting in the front of the room and they were 10 feet away from me.”

Healy noted if the problem isn’t addressed before November, an alternate location for the fall town meeting will be used.
