Janet M. (Hoffay) Messier, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice R. Messier, Sr. Born in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of the late Adelino and Mary (Bell) Hoffay.

Janet was a Untied States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and later worked at Jo-Ann Fabrics and the former Blackstone Fabrics, Pawtucket, for many years until her retirement. She was also a longtime member of the Red Hat Society. Janet enjoyed crafting, playing cards and was also a talented seamstress, having made beautiful draperies and clothing for her family and friends over the past many years.

Janet leaves a daughter, Mary F. Dewhurst and her husband, David, of Plainville; two sons, Maurice R. Messier, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Seekonk and Mark A. Messier and his wife, Irene, in New Jersey; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Harold and Michael Hoffay and Dora (Hoffay) Kautz.

Her funeral with Military Honors will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Ave., Seekonk. Interment will be private. VISITATION will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
