Seekonk, MA – Whether you’ve always wanted to learn quilting, or you are a quilting expert, we have the program for you! The Quilt of Many Cultures program will bring together a quilting community of all experience levels from novice to advanced, ages 10 – adult. By participating, you will share knowledge and skills to plan and make quilt blocks highlighting the diverse cultural backgrounds in our community. This program will meet at Seekonk Library in the Large Meeting Room twice monthly on Thursdays for 3-4 months to complete the top of the quilt onsite, beginning Thursday, March 17 at 6 PM. Materials and equipment will be provided, but participant contributions are welcome. Class size is limited; registration is required. Register in the Events Calendar at www.seekonkpl.org/events. This program is sponsored through a grant from the Seekonk Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Project leader Leslie Guglielmo is a certified sewing instructor who has taught sewing to youngsters for 5 years. She currently teaches sewing at Knit One Quilt Too in Barrington, RI. Having made countless quilts herself, Leslie shares “The Quilt of Many Cultures is a passion project of mine. I feel that many young people have a desire to learn the handmade arts and many elders are grateful to share their experiences and talents. I hope to assemble the perfect mix of these two groups to facilitate the production of a beautiful work of textile art.”
