Bernard “Barney” F. O’Brien, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine L. (Beck) O’Brien. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Bernard A. and Margaret A. (Lanigan) O’Brien. Barney had resided in Seekonk most of his life before moving to Rehoboth and then to Attleboro five years ago. He was a proud World War II U. S. Navy veteran. Barney was a sales supervisor at the Harvest Bread / Ward Baking Company for many years until retiring in 1976, and then worked as the office manager for George W. Smith & Son, Pawtucket. He enjoyed golfing for many years with the Pawtucket Lodge of Elks No. 920 at Stone-E-Lea Golf Course, Attleboro. He leaves four children, Kathleen V. Jackson of North Providence, Dennis F. O’Brien and his wife, Mary, of Seekonk, Nancy E. O’Brien-MacKinnon and her husband, Ross, of New Harbor, Maine and Rosemary Siple and her husband, David, of Rehoboth; a sister, Mary T. Brown of Warwick; five grandchildren, Kristine Caracciolo, Joe E. Jackson, Patrick Clare-O’Brien, Matthew Savicki and Meghan O’Brien and five great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Thomas P. O’Brien and the brother of the late Kathleen M. Morin. VISITATION will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the CHEETHAM Funeral Home, 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
