Anthony R. “Tony” Viera, 89, of Cynthia Drive passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Lepore) Viera.

Born in Seekonk, he was a son of the late Marion and Adeline (Costa) Viera. Tony was a mechanic for the former Lloyd Long Oldsmobile of East Providence and the former J. J. Gregory Company. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, Post 0311, Seekonk and the Korean War Veterans Association. He also belonged to the Yankee Trailers Hiking Club, enjoyed camping on Cape Cod and was an avid gardener. While working at J. J. Gregory, he also took care of all the landscaping around the property.

Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Donna Needham and her husband Joseph, four grandchildren, Jonathan Polak, Allyson Sheffield, Sean Needham and Jake Needham, two great grandchildren, Ashley Polak and Amber Polak, two sisters, Angie Curry and Elsie Ruggiero and two brothers, Robert Viera and Thomas Viera. He was the brother of the late Mary Viera, Marion Viera, Joseph Viera, Adeline Philips, Dorothy Ferreira and James Viera and father in law of the late James E. Polak.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial with Military Honors will be in Seekonk Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8.
