Steven Andrew Burek, 64 from Seekonk, MA died unexpectedly on January 13, 2017.
Born in Attleboro he attended schools in South Attleboro and Attleboro. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Electronics in Providence, RI. He was the owner of Steve's Maintenance Service for many years and also worked for SKIL Bosch in East Providence. On the advice of his good friend Paula, he applied to Verizon and became a lineman in June of 2000. At the time of his passing he worked as a technician at the Verizon Central Office in Taunton, MA.
Steve is survived by his wife of 32 years G. Susan (Vieira) Burek, his sisters Betty Clegg from Pawtucket, RI, Arlene Sherry from Ft. Myers, FL, and a brother Robert from Atlanta, GA, and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
Steve enjoyed woodworking creating beautiful furniture and his favorite birdhouses which he gave to family and friends. He was an avid landscaper. His backyard is an oasis with ponds and naturalized spaces, flower and vegetable gardens. He loved to go kayaking on lakes and rivers with his wife and take day trips; their last trip was on the fast ferry to Provincetown. Steve was an animal lover. He was a great dad to his dog Odie, and cats Pumpkin and Reeses.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, February 23, from 4-6 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro.
