Report Inappropriate Comments

I always appreciate Mr. Roderick's view on matters of importance in this city but I feel that this opinion piece and especially its title may be misleading.

Mr. Rodericks is very concerned that your "right" to vote for council in 2018 is being taken away. The truth of the matter is that we as a city voter to have four year terms. We, the people decided we did not want a council election every four years. It was the work of a chosen few to suppress our voice then and now once again they want to hold back our voice.

"We'll listen to you and give you four year terms, not now, wait until November, then we'll give you what you voted on in 2012" and why the delay. Because many of those same power brokers want to get this council out, a council they can't control, a council that defies them.

The council election ballot being wrong does not change the fact that legally the terms are four years.

I am also very surprised that with the accusation of pressure being applied to council members to kill the mayoral four year term, that what Mr. Rodericks got out of that was to promise to shut his phone off during meetings.

Mr. Rodericks ends by stating that he will ensure that our voice will never again be ignored while arguing to ignore the law and intent of the 2012 vote for four year terms. At-least until he has a shot at getting in, then he's okay with serving four years.
