On April 17th, Hornbine School Volunteers spent the day washing desks and windows as well as unpacking materials to be used this season. Our newest teacher, Richard Wheeler, joined in and vacuumed many areas that haven’t been dusted for quite a while. We’d like to thank all our volunteer clearers this season.
We are looking forward to our 2nd annual “SPRINGTIME TEA” on Saturday, May 10th. We look forward to this event with the children dressed in “old fashioned” outfits. We anticipate that it will be a very enjoyable day for all.
We have several school classrooms visiting The Hornbine School for a day in May and June. On Saturday, June 1st, we will have a booth at the Carpenter Museum’s Strawberry Festival.
Our Open Houses will be each 2nd and 4th Sunday from 2 - 4 pm during June, July, August, September, and this year during the month of October. We will have some new “Hornbine Art” on display as well as some new activities for our young and old visitors. Gilbert Stubbs will demonstrate how to cut the tips of feather quill pens at our July 20th OPEN HOUSE. We are planning a special Fall Event during the last Open House on October 26th.
Follow our articles in the Reporter and on Facebook for more details as the season progresses. The Hornbine one-room schoolhouse is located at 146 Hornbine Road in Rehoboth, MA.
