Taunton Civic Chorus Presents A Homecoming Christmas

Taunton Civic Chorus Brings Warmth and Nostalgia to Its Christmas Concert 2018

No matter the generation, concert-goers can enjoy the selections for this year’s Taunton Civic Chorus Christmas Concert.

A Homecoming Christmas, which will be presented at Memorial United Methodist Church, 176 Somerset Avenue in Taunton, will feature such selections as, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Home for Christmas”, “Silver Bells”, “Somewhere in My Memory,” and “Its Beginning to Look Like Christmas”.

In addition to the songs, there will be readings from classic Christmas stories and guest soloists, accompanied by pianist Carolyn Melesky and a seven piece orchestra.

TCC Music Director Matthew Haynes said, “The concert is about coming home, and realizing what’s important for Christmas.”

“The concert is filled with songs that, no matter what generation you’re from, you will experience ‘There’s no place like home for the holidays,’” said Haynes.

Haynes, who took over the reins of the Taunton Civic Chorus right after Christmas last year, said the theme of this year’s concert is a direct result of his not being home for Christmas in 2017. At the time, Haynes was finishing a semester in Florida at Walt Disney World prior to graduation from Rhode Island College in the spring.

Haynes said he’s a homebody and Christmas is his favorite holiday, a time for celebrating at home with family and friends, and that’s what he missed last year.

“My choice of music in this concert is to make an emotional connection, transporting the audience back to nostalgia, bringing people to that place with the family - eating a certain meal, hearing certain songs, watching certain Christmas specials.”

The concert takes place December 2nd at 4 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 176 Somerset Avenue, Taunton.

Tickets will be available at the door - $12 for Adults; $10 for Seniors and Children under 12 .
