Sons of Italy Give Seasons’ Joy to Taunton-Area Adults with Disabilities

Posted

North Dighton —On December 5th, The Order of Sons of Italy in America® Peter B. Gay Lodge #540 hosted its 13th annual holiday party for consumers and staff at CO-OP, a local non-profit agency supporting individuals with developmental and other disabilities. The party kicked off with holiday music provided by Taunton High School Seven O’Clock Jazz Band followed by lunch for over 100 people. The festivities included lunch, music, dancing, and the traditional reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” by State Representative Shaunna O’Connell. Taunton’s Mayor Thomas Hoye also joined in and helped serve a delicious holiday meal.

According to CO-OP President and CEO, Joyce Faria, “This yearly tradition exemplifies the spirit of the holidays and the generosity of The Columbia Cultural Trust and The Peter B. Gay Lodge #540 O.S.I.A. Over these many years, their generosity during the holiday season is truly appreciated by all of us at CO-OP. Once again, the Sons of Italy and its volunteers gave joy to so many.”
