GFWC Taunton & Raynham Junior Woman's Club

Posted

The ladies of the GFWC Taunton Junior Woman's Club welcomed Julie Lovely from Wild Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Program in Middleboro as their guest speaker for May. Julie introduced the members to her Wild Hearts Horses for Heroes program which is geared specifically for handicapped veterans, and is free of charge to any male or female vet. Many vets suffering from PTSD have found a sense of peace while being and working with the trained gentle horses at her farm. Funding for her programs comes solely from donations. For more information on Julie and Wild Hearts program, and how you can donate, go to jlovely@wildheartstherapeutic.org. Other guests that evening were representatives from seven Taunton elementary schools who were presented with scholarship checks for the Nature and Me program. The members later celebrated the many awards that the club received at the recent GFWC Junior Woman's Club conference held at the Holiday Inn in Taunton.
In June the club will be holding a Social for its members, and their regularly scheduled business meetings will resume in September. However, they will continue their activities throughout the summer months preparing a fashion show for their next scholarship fundraiser which is to be held on August 13th at the American Legion on Mill Street in Raynham.
Any young woman 18 years or older interested in being a part of the GFWC Taunton and Raynham Junior Woman's Club may call Joyce at 508 823-4482.The logo for the General Federation of Women's Clubs is Living the Volunteer Spirit.
