GFWC Taunton and Raynham Jr. Woman's Club News and Activity

The GFWC Taunton and Raynham Jr. Woman's Club welcomes guests monthly to their meetings with their most recent guest being renowned female magician Lyn Dillies who performed and shared her book 'Your Vote is Magic'! Other guests this fall were Katie Tyler and Delise Amato, representatives from Penelope Place, a shelter for victims of Domestic abuse in Brockton. They were presented a $400 grant check, which was provided by the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Massachusetts (GFWC MA), by club president Edie Edlund. Jessica Darling also received a donation from the club for Girl's Inc. , and Cindy Tokarz was the spokesperson for Cancer Care ( CABbies ) telling members of their organization and how we can help.

Club members participated in a team building project facilitated by Leadership chairwomen Joan Rainvillle Curran and Paula Gasparoni, and Nancy Brown gave a presentation on the history of suffrage in preparation of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.. The club is collecting donations for The Turning Point Suffrage Memorial to be dedicated in 2020 in Lawton, Virginia. As the year comes to an end the club will give of themselves this holiday season by presenting Mrs. Claus and Santa's elves at the 105th Taunton Lighting of the Green. Mrs. Claus will read while the elves will distribute cookies and cocoa, and letters to Santa to the children attending.

The clubs year end meeting will be on Monday, December 3rd at Bristol Plymouth in the Silver Patter restaurant at 7:00 p.m. Women 18 and older are invited to attend. For more information go to gfwctauntonraynhamjuniors.org or call Joyce at 508 823-4482. Also find us on Facebook.
