Opening Paperwork
On Monday we sent your child home with forms which we need you to review, edit & return to us:  Cumulative Student Record, Free & Reduced Lunch Application, Student Handbook Signature Page, and Photo Release (grade 5).  We ask that you complete and return these forms to school as soon as possible.  It is optional to complete the Covid testing form.

Additional Beginning of the Year Information
You may want to discuss with your child what he/she should do in the case of an unplanned early dismissal from school or if after-school activities are canceled.  In the event of unplanned, district-wide early dismissals our automated call system will allow us to notify parents by telephone.  We will also send notification through our email listserv.  In this situation, the high school is dismissed first, followed by our middle school and finally the elementary school.   If your middle schooler would be the first one home, he/she should know how to get in the house (with a key pinned in a special section of the backpack that isn’t used often perhaps or knowledge of where a special key is kept for emergencies).  Hopefully we will not have any unplanned early dismissals, but it is always good to be prepared.

Student of the Month
Throughout the school year, Beckwith will recognize students who go “the extra degree.”  These students are selected based on their effort and citizenship and their commitment to the Beckwith Ideal.  Students of the Month make Beckwith Middle School a place where both students and staff want to be every day.

BoxTops for Education
Thank you so much for your continued support of the BoxTops for Education program at Beckwith Middle School.

The Box Tops For Education program is almost entirely digital now. Clippable Box Tops are rapidly becoming a thing of the past but we will still take them, so please continue to send them in. Please consider downloading the Box Tops app on your smartphone. By scanning your receipt you may earn money for our school, and you will also find that there are many new special promotions to earn an even bigger reward for Beckwith.

There are many resources available to help you to adjust to the newly revamped Box Tops program. A basic overview of the program explains how the new Box Tops program works. The BFTE Family Letter explains the changes in the Box Tops program.  All the latest Box Tops offers and program news is in one fun, at-a-glance digital flyer. There is a complete list of eligible products and brands that participate in the program, and many, many videos to demonstrate how to scan a receipt through the app. We truly hope you will check out the new version of the Box Tops program to support Beckwith Middle School. When you enroll, it may ask for an optional referral code. If you use this code, you will earn 20 bonus Box Tops and an additional 20 Box Tops will be credited directly to the Beckwith account. That’s $4 given to our school just for registering for the program, using our referral code, and scanning your first receipt! Winning! The referral code is MSD08FO7. If you have any questions, please contact Christina Mitnik at cmitnik@drregional.org. Thank you for your support!

Rehoboth PTSA
Please consider joining the Rehoboth PTSA whose hard work and fund raising benefits the children of both Beckwith Middle School and Palmer River Elementary School.  We are including a link to their website where you can learn how to become involved.

Principal’s Message
Dear Beckwith Middle School Parents/Guardians:

I would like to thank you all again for your support and collaboration in working with us to open school safely and successfully!

A key responsibility and challenge of being a new school leader is to find timely ways to survey the learning community about a school's strengths and growth opportunities at the same time you are working to keep operations up and running smoothly.

One way leaders manage this challenge is to develop and schedule "Entry Plan" activities to make sure they create time and avenues to collect feedback, gather information and build relationships. With that in mind, I am sending this Google form of "Entry Plan Questions" to all Beckwith Parents/Guardians.  I ask that you consider completing this survey by October 15, 2021.

Faculty members are also in the process of completing an "Entry Plan" survey for me as well.

I am finalizing a Beckwith student survey, which I will work on with staff to find the best way for students to complete it for me without missing any valuable class time.

It is my goal to share with the school community, probably at some point in January or February, 2022, any patterns or trends that I learn to help guide our future work together.

I want you to know that you are welcome to contact me to set up a personal meeting time.  I am open to meeting in person, virtually, or by phone call.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like further information.

Sincerely,
Frederick Randall
