Taunton Civic Chorus Begins Rehearsals for Christmas Season

Posted

The Taunton Civic Chorus will begin rehearsals in September for its annual Christmas concert entitled A Homecoming Christmas.

The concert will feature familiar Christmas classics such as “Deck the Halls”, “Silver Bells”, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”, “Home for Christmas”, and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, and some whimsical pieces such as “The Chipmunk Song”, “Cartoon Christmas”, and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”.

The Taunton Civic Chorus is the area’s longest running choral group and has been an important part of the cultural life of Taunton since 1959. The TCC will celebrate its 60th anniversary next year. The 40-member ensemble is led by Music Director Matthew Haynes and accompanied by pianist Carolyn Melesky.

In addition to presenting an annual spring and holiday concert, the TCC performs at local events such as the Raynham Tree Lighting, private functions, and local church services. Each year, TCC proudly awards a scholarship to a young person entering college who has been involved in the performing arts in high school.

Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, September 6th, and will be held each Thursday evening from 7 pm to 9 pm at Union Congregational Church, 265 West Britannia Street, Taunton. No auditions are necessary and all voices are welcome. New members will be accepted until September 27th.
