Richard Charles Wood, 61, of Rehoboth, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 27, 2017, in the Boston Medical Center.

Born in Boston on Oct. 5, 1955, he was a son of the late William L. and Ola M. (King) Wood.

Richard was a graduate of King Philip High School.

He worked as a general contractor and real estate manager in Rehoboth for the last 20 years. Recently he worked as a building efficiency inspector. Prior to that he worked as a maintenance-repairman for Tedeschi’s convenience stores.

He also worked as a foreman for Cornell Concepts Silk Screen and Printing for many years. He worked for the Town of Wrentham in the Water Department and the former Crosby Valve & Gage Co. His hobbies and interests included automobiles, hot rods, motorcycles, antiques, woodworking, furniture building, and Patriots football.

Richard is survived by a sister, Donna M. Wood of Wrentham; a brother, Douglas L. and his wife Darlene A. Wood of Cumberland; a nephew, Jonathan D. Wood; three nieces: Stephanie M. Wood, Maris A. Cummings, and Brea A. Cummings-Vitek, and her husband Brian Vitek; and two great-nephews, Sean D. Vitek and Justin M. Vitek.

He was the brother of the late John L. Wood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, Aug. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Wrentham. A funeral service will follow visitation at 7 p.m in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: American Lung Association, www.lung.org.
