Offerings from the 2021 Kids Summer Learning Program

Video Production I, taught by Mr. Jay Duddy of Berkley Middle School, the week of July 19-July 23. This class runs 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. This class will show your child how to do basic scripting, filming, editing, and effects. Creating your own TikTok, Youtube and Instagram videos is all the rage right now. Learning how to edit, script, and film correctly will give you the heads up on the competition! Video Production II: A 15-Minute Movie, taught by Mr. Jay Duddy of Berkley Middle School, the week of July 26-30 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. This class is designed for students who took the first course, or for students who have video production experience. This course will focus more in depth on editing, scripting, and filming centered around a 15-minute movie that students will be producing! Robotics, taught by Mr. Jay Duddy of Berkley Middle school, the weeks of June 28-July 2, July 6-July 9, July 19-July 23, and August 2-6. Students will build a Lego EV3 Robot and use LabView software to program their robot. Students will learn to program robot behavior using motor rotations, sound, light, and ultrasonic sensors. The curriculum module is designed to teach core computer programming, logic, and reasoning skills using robotic engineering content. All this creativity and learning will take place while students are enjoying themselves and having fun while doing it! Lego Construction, taught by Mr. Jay Duddy of Berkley Middle School, the weeks of July 6-9, July 12-16, and August 2-6. This class is intended for students who have some experience building with Lego bricks and who enjoy the challenge to make what they see on the box or use their imagination and create something new. Builders will take on the challenges of building unique vehicles, experimental structures, and awesome Lego models all while building valuable skills such as teamwork, problem-solving skills, and dexterity.
