GFWC Taunton and Raynham Jr. Woman's Club Installations

Posted

Two more local women join the ranks of the GFWC Taunton and Raynham Jr. Woman's Club in April. Membership Chairman, Joyce Clark installed Mary Njeri and Nora Orfanello with a candle light ceremony and each were presented with a club pin by Vice President Robin Gendron who was standing in for the club's President Edie Edlund. The April two minute Biographical spotlight, under the Woman's History and Resource Department was Mother Mary Angelica presented by Nancy Brown. Mother Angelica was the foundress of the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).

Members Joyce Clark and Nancy Brown brought books to the Lucy Parsons Library located in the United First Parish Church in Quincy for the Prison Book Program. Members regularly participate in this project to help provide reading material to inmates who have no access to libraries or have limited resources.

The club is promoting a bottle refund monthly collection for the Presidents Project, which is the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial, along with a campaign collecting change for Heifer International. Members support these programs monthly and any person so inclined may give to either one of these charities through any club member. Their next fundraiser for student scholarships is an Oriental Tea and Luncheon on Sunday May 19th at St. Nicholas of Myra Parish Center in No. Dighton. This is an annual themed tea which includes their popular basket raffle. For further information or tickets call 774 -218-1456 or 508-813-7392.
