DRRSD Travel Advisory Policy Update

Posted

Dear Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District Community Members:
The Dighton-Rehoboth School District is committed to in-person learning and maintaining the safety of the entire school community. Based on the current COVID-19 metrics, the District in collaboration with both Local Boards of Health has determined that it is in the best interest of students, families, and staff to keep the “District Travel Policy” in place, at this juncture. This was a difficult decision; however, we will move to a “Travel Advisory” when the number of cases trends downward.

The District Policy has been updated to reflect vaccinated individuals, as well as to allow for rapid antigen testing. Please see below for the amended version:
Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District Travel Policy (Amended)
The district appreciates your ongoing support to attenuate COVID-19 in our schools and the community at large.

To assist in mitigating the ongoing risk of COVID-19 transmission in our communities, please read and adhere to the Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District Travel Policy currently in effect. This applies to members of the Dighton and Rehoboth school community engaging in out-of-state travel (domestic or international). The district requires that all returning school community members entering

Massachusetts abide by the following policy provisions:
• Upon entering/re-entering Massachusetts from any out-of-state location, all travelers must have received a negative COVID-19 PCR test (which may be collected within 72- hours of the traveler’s arrival in Massachusetts) or rapid antigen test located at the five school buildings, administered after consent is obtained and registration is complete.
• It is the District’s understanding that any individual entering or returning in-person to District buildings, grounds, transportation, services, activities or events, subsequent to out-of-state travel and before satisfying these policy requirements, will be in violation of the DRRSD COVID-19 Travel Policy, with the exception of antigen testing for COVID-19 by appointment with a school nurse.
• For all COVID-19 tests required under the Policy, a standard molecular PCR or a rapid antigen test is required and the testing specimen must be collected per a Massachusetts Department of Public Health approved method (See state testing requirements set forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts).
• Travelers not testing for COVID 19 must quarantine for ten days from district buildings, grounds, transportation, services, activities, or events. If quarantining, please contact your child’s teacher or principal to learn about how you can keep your child engaged in remote learning.
• Travelers who are fully vaccinated (i.e. who have received two doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines OR who have received a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, 14 days previous to travel) and who do not have symptoms - are exempt.
• If you received a positive COVID-19 test result between 10 and 90 days ago and have completed the appropriate isolation period, you do not need to quarantine upon arrival to Massachusetts.
• If you received a positive COVID-19 test result or a diagnosis of COVID-19 more than 90 days before arrival in Massachusetts you should quarantine upon arrival or comply with the testing rule.

Regardless of travel, and in accordance with important public health protocols, any district community member testing positive for COVID-19 should report the positive test result directly to the appropriate building-based school nurse and/or the District nurse. The District will prioritize maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding all individuals’ privacy rights to the greatest extent possible, following applicable law while complying with District reporting obligations and public health/contact tracing protocols.
