New Medicare Cards, New Number: Do Not Laminate Your New Medicare Card! New Medicare Cards are being sent to all those who are on Medicare. Please do not laminate your new card. Laminating the card will make it unreadable by a scanner. You may put it into a little plastic sleeve that can be removed. For more information, you may call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227)

Free Presentation: The Massachusetts Bar Association, Presentation coming in June 2018, "Taking Control of Your Future: A Legal Checkup" Attorney Patricia Bloom-McDonald Will be presenting the 2018 Elder Law Education Program, on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at 10:30 am, at the Dighton Council on Aging, 300 Lincoln Ave., N. Strawberry Vine Update: The Strawberry Vine Newsletter will not be published in the months of July and August. We will resume in September. No programs will be held at Lincoln Village through the months of July and August. Programs will resume on the week of September 10, 2018. Prime Time: Do you know someone over the age of 60 who might benefit from meeting new friends, trying new experiences, and keeping active in their minds and bodies? Prime Time Adult Supportive Day Program, a service provided through the Town of Dighton Council on Aging, helps provide social interaction, a good diet, and exercise for the mind, body and spirit for senior citizens. Prime Time provides a clean, spacious, comfortable, homelike setting, with nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack served five days a week. Exercises for multiple activity levels for mind and body are provided every day, as well. A varied, extensive array of physical and educational activities addresses balance, health, strength, and memory, with the help of visiting guests and caring, attentive staff members. All staff are CORI checked, inoculated, and certified for CPR. Kitchen staff are certified food handlers. Prime Time’s services make it easier for seniors to stay in their own homes, or in their family’s home. There’s much, much more to say about Prime Time. Town Of Dighton Community Food Bank For Dighton Residents: Dighton Town Hall, (Lower Level) 979 Somerset Ave. Dighton. The next food bank will be held on: June 23rd. starting at 8:00 a.m. First time attending: Must show ID and Utility bill with address and, Show Proof of need: Tax Returns, Disability Statement, etc.

How To Report Elder Abuse: The Executive Office of Elder Affairs has centralized the Elder Protective Services abuse reporting system (elder abuse hotline) to a single phone number. Vision Clinic At Prime Time: A Vision Clinic will be held Tuesday, July 31st at Prime Time. Cornerstone Family Vision provides this free service of minor repairs and adjustments to eyeglasses. If you are a Dighton resident 60+ and need this service, please call (508) 669-6272 for more information

We Need Your Help With The Sojourn Bears Group: The group will meet again before summer break on June 18th at 10:30 am. Bears made by caring volunteers, are distributed to Cancer Patients, Survivors and those effected by it, at nearby hospitals. U.F.O'S/Arts & Crafts Group: The group will meet June 19th at 10:00 am, at the Dighton Council on Aging. Let's finish your projects, bring your quilting, beading, knitting or crocheting, and let's finish it together. Call 508-823-0095 for more information.

Library Representative Visits Lincoln Village: A Representative from the Dighton Public Library will be at Lincoln Village on Tuesday, June 12th and Tuesday, June 19th from 1 -3 pm. Wellness And Blood Pressure Clinic:. Our next Wellness Clinic will be held on Tuesday, June 19th., at 9:30 am, at the Dighton Council on Aging, 300 Lincoln Ave., N. Dighton. The scheduled topic in June is “Super Foods for Better Health”. A Nurse will be available to answer questions and to check your blood pressure. Please call 508-823-0095 to schedule appointment. Walk ins are always welcome.

Free Trial Day At Prime Time: “Prime Time” is an adult supportive respite facility located in the rear of the Town Hall, 1059 Somerset Avenue, Dighton, (Route 138). If you know of someone who cannot stay alone or whose family could benefit from some respite, we may be able to help both the elder and the caregiver. “Prime Time” is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. “Prime Time” is a supervised program for elders where they can enjoy a full and productive life. Chair Yoga: Chair Yoga class is held for those 60+, on Tuesdays, from 11 am -12 pm, at the Dighton Council on Aging, in the Lincoln Village Community Center, 300 Lincoln Ave., N. Dighton. Please call 508-823-0095 for more information.

GATRA Transportation: Makes Everyday Life a Little Easier, GATRA provides Dial-A-Ride, a curb-to-curb transportation for persons 60 years or older. To find out which services are available call: 1-800-483-2500 or visit the website www.gatra.org

Med Wheels - Long Distance Medical Transportation: funded through United Way of Greater Attleboro/Taunton for seniors and people with disabilities that are ADA eligible in Dighton, and surrounding communities. To make a reservation, please call 508-823-8828, ext. 263.

Dighton Housing Authority: Applications are being accepted for one bedroom apartments at Lincoln Village, low income housing for the Elderly/Disabled. Dighton residents having preference. The age requirement is 60+. Those with a permanent disability or handicap also qualify. Limits of income are $46,000 for an individual and $52,600 for a couple. Rent is based on 30% of gross income and includes all utilities. Please contact the Dighton Housing Authority at 508-823-8361, 300 Lincoln Avenue, North Dighton, MA 02764. Pinochle-Cribbage-Whist:
We need players! Games are played at the Lincoln Village Community Center, on Wednesdays and Thursday at 1:00 p.m. We also have a Whist Party scheduled for the 1st. and 3rd. Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m.

File Of Life Provided by the Dighton Lions Club. We have the File Of Life for distribution to Dighton Seniors. It is a Red file that you fill with medical information/history, and keep on your refrigerator door. It will be readily available if needed, by Emergency Medical Technicians, who will be able to perform corrective treatment at once. And it also helps in notifying proper emergency contacts. You may pick one up at the Dighton Council on Aging, or call 508-823-0095 for more information.

Nutritious Meals are served at “Prime Time” Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. by reservation. Call Sheila at 508-669-6272 by 10:30 a.m. the previous day to reserve a meal. A donation of $2.00 per meal is suggested. Home delivered meals can be arranged for homebound elders upon request. If you know of someone who is homebound and in need of home delivered meals please call (508)- 823-0095 or (508) 669-6272.

The SHINE (Serving Health Information Needs of Elders) is available to assist you with questions concerning available Medicare HMOs and Medicare Supplements (Medigaps). Please call 1-800- 987-2510 for more information.
