Dear Dighton-Rehoboth Families,

Posted

As more information regarding COVID-19 is made available, DRRSD is enacting a response plan to ensure continued daily operation of schools. Part of the response plan includes social distancing as well as protocols for cleaning within buildings.
Using guidance from the local boards of health, DRRSD is enacting a plan for social distancing effective today, 3/12/2020, that includes:
● Postponing all after school and evening events that involve adults entering our buildings along with students, as well as events that take place during the school day and allow for the gathering of adults (parents, grandparents, etc.).
● Postponing all use of school buildings by outside groups until further notice.
● Afternoon/After School/Evening/Weekend events that are attended by students only (and faculty members) will take place as scheduled, or until further notice.
● All volunteers are asked to not volunteer in our schools at this time. Volunteering within the schools is suspended at this time.
● All field trips are postponed.
● Staff professional development events that take place outside the District, including conferences and trainings, will be cancelled or rescheduled as able.
● Encouraging schools to use teleconferencing whenever possible in place of in person meetings with families/parents/guardians.

DRRSD urges organizations including PTSA and parent advisory councils groups to follow the recommendation of social distancing and postpone gatherings and events.

Social distancing will remain in place until further notice. Information from the overseeing agencies is being updated frequently and as a result we will continually reevaluate the plan for social distancing and provide updates as information is made available.

DRRSD is also continuing to clean surfaces within the school frequently used by students and staff including handrails, doorknobs, student work spaces, lunch tables, and chairs. Teachers and staff are reminding students to use hand hygiene protocols throughout the day and especially before lunch or snack.

Transportation services have increased cleaning protocols on student transportation vehicles.

The mission of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District, in partnership with parents and the community, is to provide students with the tools, including technology, to acquire knowledge, apply skills, critically analyze information and issues, and develop social responsibility.

Dighton-Rehoboth does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other legally protected group.

DRRSD understands the inconvenience and disappointment caused by measures of social distancing. However, inhibiting the spread of COVID-19 and maintaining daily operation of school buildings is a priority for maintaining the health and welfare of the community. Please continue to monitor school listservs and websites for specific cancelation and postponement information as well as updates from DRRSD administration.

Sincerely,
Dr. Azar
