Sophie Silva (Nee Knott)

Sophie Silva (Nee Knott), 91, of East Providence, RI passed away Saturday March 25, 2017 at the Hope Hospice Center in Fort Myers. Born in Taylor, PA on August 17, 1925 to the late Harry and Tillie (Nee Markowitz) Knott. She spent the early part of her life in Newark, NJ and married the late Alfred J. Silva of East Providence, RI. They were married 62 years until his death in January 2010. More recently, she also resided in Rehoboth, MA as well as Fort Myers, FL. Mrs. Silva worked as the Probate Clerk for the City of East Providence for 30 years before she retired in 1985. She was the sister of the late Michael, Joseph, Charles and Mary Clinchot and the late Stephen, Peter and Andrew Knott. She is survived by her son, James Silva and his wife Elizabeth of Rehoboth, MA, her sister, Madeline Cicalese of NJ, three grandchildren, Tracey Hubicki and husband Jason of Cape Coral, FL, Matthew Silva of Fort Worth, TX and Jordan Silva of Dallas, TX, as well as her great grandson, Brady Hubicki. Mrs. Silva was a communicant and former member of the choir at Saint Francis Xavier Church in East Providence. In addition to the love she had for her family, she also greatly enjoyed the theater and music. Her funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence.
