Robert Kenneth Rainey, 78, of Brookfield, CT, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Born on February 17th, 1939, in Flint, MI, he was the son of the late Henry and Opal (Riley) Rainey. Bob was a graduate of the University of Michigan and worked as a computer programmer with IBM in Poughkeepsie.

He enjoyed many years of traveling, skiing, hiking and S.C.U.B.A. driving. Bob was also an avid music enthusiast, and attended many concerts and operas, often singing or conducting along in the audience.

On June 22, 1979, Bob married Paulette Fitzpatrick. Before living in Connecticut, Bob and Paulette lived in their cottage by the sea in E. Providence, RI for over twenty years. They created a wealth of happy memories for all who knew them before Paulette passed away on May 18, 2015.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Samara Harms of Danbury, CT, and Kristin Povall of Milan, NY; his son, Geoffrey Rainey of Sanger, TX; his brother, James Rainey of Naples, FL; and his grandchildren, Joshua and Benjamin Rainey of Sanger, TX, and Zachary and Jacqueline Povall of Milan, NY.

Roberts's older brother, Jeff Rainey of Chicago, IL predeceased him.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
