Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub Seeking Female Veterans for All-Female Honor Flight for a Tour of Our Nation’s Capital

Posted

Female veterans who served in the military during the following time periods are welcome to submit an application to the RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub to become eligible to go on their Honor Flight, code named Honor Flight “VICTORY” on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Please be advised that January 31, 2019 is the final date that we will be able to accept applications from female veterans for our all-female Honor Flight so if you know any female veterans, that served in the military during the time periods listed below it is important that you have them submit their applications to us ASAP.

Priority -- Top priority is given to WWII veterans that have not yet visited their memorial. Exceptions will be made for terminally ill veterans who have never participated in an Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. Next priority will be veterans that served between WWII and Korea, then Korean War veterans, then veterans that served between Korea and Vietnam, then Vietnam veterans and continue in the same manner in chronological order of conflicts:

WW II: December 7, 1941- December 31, 1946
Korean War: June 25, 1950 - January 31, 1955
Vietnam War: February 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975
Lebanon/Grenada: August 24, 1982 - July 31, 1984
Panama: December 20, 1989 - January 31, 1990
Gulf War/War on Terrorism: August 2, 1990 – Present

Any female serving on active duty ANYWHERE at ANY TIME during the above dates is a veteran of that war/conflict and is eligible.

First Come, First Served -- All veterans within a conflict will be flown based upon a “first-come, first-served” basis. “First-come” is based upon when a veteran’s application has been received by the Honor Flight Network Headquarters (HFN HQ) or by the RIFC Honor Flight Hub.

Honor Flight “VICTORY” is being organized by the RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit. Honor Flight was created to pay tribute to America’s veterans with a “tour of honor” for those who have made great sacrifices for this country.

Honor Flight “VICTORY” is being sponsored by the Rhode Island Chapters of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs who have made a generous donation which covered the veteran’s expenses for this Honor Flight.

This will be the twenty-second (22nd) Honor Flight organized by the Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub since the inaugural flight in November 2012.

Veteran applications can be found on to the Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub website at http://www.rihonorflight.com/.

If you have questions or if you know a female veteran that might be interested in going on this Honor Flight please have them contact our Honor Flight office at 401-354-7905 or email me at rifirechiefshonorflight@gmail.com.
