Pomham Rocks Lighthouse Receives Two Grants

Posted

Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse has recently received two grants to help with the restoration of the interior of the Lighthouse.

Nate Chace, Director of Development for the Lighthouse group, said The Felecia Fund, Inc., a Providence foundation, made a $5,000 grant in March to the Friends “to help meet the $150,000 matching State Preservation Grant from the Rhode Island Historic Preservation and Heritage Commission.” Louise Paiva, an active member of the Friends, was responsible for the writing of the Grant Proposal, and Mr. Chace credited her for the successful effort.

Mr. Chace also stated that, curtesy of the efforts of State Representative Gregg Amore, Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse has recently received a $5000 Legislative Grant from the Rhode Island House of Representatives. This Grant which will also be used to help restore the interior of the Lighthouse, will be matched by a similar $5,000 gift from an anonymous donor who has agreed to match any grants originating from the Statehouse.
