On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the Rhode Island Independence Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) partnered with the East Providence Historical Society to clean Revolutionary War Veterans' gravestones at the Newman Cemetery in Rumford. This was done as part of the DAR Day of Service event.
There are more than 100 Revolutionary War Veterans buried at Newman Cemetery. On this DAR Day of Service, the Rhode Island Independence Chapter was able to clean 21 gravestones of Revolutionary War veterans. There is still more to do as we lead up to America 250! Consider reaching out to see how you can help.
