Maria Eugenia DaSilva, 77, of Robinson Street, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Waterview Villa. She was the wife of the late Joao Paulo DaSilva. Born in Ponta Graca, Sao Miguel, Azores she was a daughter of the late Eugenio and Maria P. (Costa) Simas. Mrs. DaSilva worked for the Rhode Island Textile Company and the Malina Corporation for many years before she retired. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and also a member of the choir. She was a longtime member and an avid supporter of World Vision. Her family meant everything to her and she was considered the rock of her family. She leaves one son, Eugenio F. DaSilva and his wife Margarida and one daughter, Susete Sousa and her husband Artur, four grandchildren, Marc E. DaSilva and his wife Shirlene, Stefan A. DaSilva and his wife Aline, Briana L. Sousa and Sabrina M. Sousa, two brothers, Antonio J. Simas, Jaime M. Simas and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose E. Simas. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-8. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
