Eleanor J. Fisher (Horton) 87, of Riverside, died unexpectedly on January 26, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Fisher for 49 years. Eleanor was born in Rehoboth, MA, a daughter of the late Everett and Emma (Kelton) Horton, she lived in Riverside for 70 years. In her youth, she was a seamstress for the former Shepard’s Department Store and later worked for Miriam Hospital before retiring in 1994. She continued to use her considerable talents at the Riverside Congregational Church making school supply bags for underprivileged children.

Through the years, she enjoyed bike riding and traveling with her husband and friends to places such as Florida and New Hampshire. She also loved to play card games and croquet with her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her great-grandchildren especially loved her sugar cookies—nobody made them quite as good as “Great Gram”. She is survived by three sons, Robert E. Fisher and his wife, Margie, of Riverside, Jerry S. Fisher and his wife, Joan, of North Providence and Roland Fisher and his wife, Nancy, of Pomfret, CT; a sister, Marian Kostka of Somerset, MA; three grandchildren, Tonya White, Andrea Capotosto and Robert Fisher; five great grandchildren, Bobby White, Cristina Capotosto, Jake Capotosto, Keaton Fisher and Nathaniel Fisher. She was the mother of the late Roger Fisher and sister of the late Francis Moore, Everett Horton Jr. and Emily Korreia.

A private graveside service will be held in Thomas Cemetery, Swansea, MA. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Eleanor’s memory to the Food Bank at the Riverside Congregational Church, 15 Oak Avenue, Riverside, RI 02915 would be deeply appreciated.
