Councilwoman Sousa - Community Meeting - Ward 2

Anna Sousa Schedules Sat., Sept. 21st Neighborhood Meeting

Posted

A Ward 2 Community Meeting is being held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 4 PM to discuss the years long flooding issues in the Abbott Street neighborhood. The meeting is at Lucky's Restaurant which is near the affected area. The meeting is sponsored by Ward 2 Councilwoman Anna Sousa. Mayor Bob DaSilva is expected to attend as are other officials and city residents.

In past years some residents of Abbott and State streets have had to leave their homes or had sustained damage due to flooding in the area.

Workers have finished installing two 3 by 7 foot wide concrete box culverts to an area under Warren Avenue and County Street.

The objective is to reduce the high amount of flooding that has occurred in the State/Abbott Street neighborhood in East Providence.

COUNCILWOMAN ANNA SOUSA'S OPEN LETTER:

"Dear Resident,
As your Councilwoman of Ward 2, I have heard and share your concerns regarding flooding in and around Abbott Street. For the last two years, I have fought hard to ensure your voice was heard and achieved the completion of the culvert project.

However, our work is far from done! The culvert project and remediation is just the first of many items to resolve the flooding of your neighborhood.

Please join myself, Mayor DaSilva and other concerned neighbors"

Community Meeting Saturday, September 21, 2019
