Bristol Comedy Night

BRISTOL, Rhode Island — On Friday, Sept. 21, The Bristol Health Equity Zone is sponsoring Bristol Comedy Night, a fundraiser to benefit the East Bay Recovery Center, a division of East Bay Community Action Program. The event is being presented by “Addicted To Laughter,” a non-profit organization which brings stand-up comedy to recovery centers all over New England.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with refreshments and raffles with a variety of goods donated by local businesses. The show begins at 8 p.m.  The event will be held at St. Michael’s Parish House, 378 Hope St., Bristol.

Prepaid tickets are $25 which includes food and soft drinks. Limited tickets may be available at the door for $30.

East Bay Recovery Center, a division of East Bay Community Action Program, is a safe and supportive place that emphasizes helping individuals feel empowered and autonomous, where an individual can just relax, enjoy, and experience what the peer recovery movement has to offer. Participants of the Recovery Center will experience one-on-one support with a Peer Recovery Coach, who has personally “walked the walk” who strives to promote mutually supportive relationships. The program features all-recovery meetings, a recovery training series, family support groups, social events, telephone support, and wellness activities.

Bristol Health Equity Zone is a community-wide effort funded through the Rhode Island Department of Health by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Health Resources and Services Administration to create innovative approaches that can reduce and manage chronic diseases, promote healthy lifestyles, assure healthy child development, and create environments where healthy choices are easier to make.
