BBBSOS to Honor 2018 Big Brother, Big Sister and Big Couple of the Year

Honored for their commitment to the measurable impacts mentoring has on Rhode Island’s youth.

Cranston, RI – Each year, at their annual gala, The Big Night Out, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State (BBBSOS) honors community leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to sustain the measurable impacts mentoring has on Rhode Island’s youth. The agency’s annual gala will honor the 2018 ‘Bigs’ of the Year who were nominated by the agency for helping their Little Brothers and Sisters overcome obstacles, achieve positive educational outcomes and positively impact the child’s social and emotional well-being.

Mentors must also be highly engaged with the agency’s mission of providing mentors to the youth of Rhode Island who will motivate and empower them to make positive decisions, improve academic results, avoid risky behaviors, and grow in a way that will positively impact our community.

The Kentucky Derby themed event, being held on May 5th at the Omni Hotel in Providence, will be a night to remember as guests will enjoy amazing food stations and an exclusive live auction featuring exotic vacations, exclusive art, and New England Patriots memorabilia signed by Tom Brady himself. Live music from local favorite, Brass Attack, will entertain guests as they dance the night away. The evening will be emceed by Lindsay Iadeluca, NBC 10 News Reporter and will include a special video presentation honoring the 2018
Mentors of the Year.

2018 Mentors of the Year Include:
Big Brother of the Year: Nicholas Rodrigues of Lincoln employed by Citizens Bank

Big Sister of the Year: Jennifer Merrill of Providence, Employed by Brown University

Big Couple of the Year: Cindy & Anthony Capobianco both of West Greenwich

The 2018 Legacy Award will be awarded to MetLife Auto & Home for being a long time, significant donor in support of the agency’s mission.

Proceeds from The Big Night Out: Kentucky Derby will be used to support mentoring relationships for over 500 children throughout Rhode Island. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State is Rhode Island’s leading mentoring organization and has been serving boys and girls in Rhode Island for over 50 years.
