Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State Opens Two Satellite Offices

Cranston, R.I. (September 12, 2017)—Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State (BBBSOS) is pleased to announce the opening of satellite offices in Providence and Middletown, Rhode Island. The new offices provide convenient locations throughout the state for mentees, mentors, and other community members to meet with BBBSOS staff. With the growing demand of mentees to mentors, BBBSOS saw an opportunity to fill a need in these two communities. BBBSOS serves 73% of Littles in Providence and 8% in Newport.

The Providence office is located in the East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA, at 438 Hope Street in Providence. A BIG thanks to the East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA for donating office space. The Providence office is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Aquidneck Island office is located at 82 Valley Road in Middletown. Alicia Barra is the Aquidneck Island program coordinator, and can be reached at 401-921-2434, 401-999-0363 (mobile), or ABarra@bbbsos.org. The Aquidneck Island office will be open Monday through Friday, by appointment only.
“Our goal is for all children in our community to have access to mentors who support individual growth and development,” said Katje Afonseca, BBBSOS executive director. “Opening satellite offices allows us to remain more connected with the youth we serve throughout the state and to save staff travel time and resources for the organization.”
BBBSOS will host an open house at the Providence satellite office on Wednesday, September 20. Staff will be present to speak with members of the community from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Refreshments and food will be served.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State is Rhode Island’s leading mentoring organization and has been serving boys and girls in Rhode Island for over 51 years.
