ALLUSIONS in Gallery 175

Posted

From November 4 to December 28, 2018, Gallery 175 will be showing artwork by three talented abstract painters in its gallery in downtown Pawtucket, RI. The artwork of Tracey J. Maroni, Sasja Lucas, and Karen Rand Anderson conveys form, color, and painterly effects that allude to each artist’s inspiration taken from natural and built environments.

Tracey J. Maroni’s mixed media paintings are influenced by her connections to natural surroundings of water, terrain, and sky. She renders earthy textures with dense paint that play against the shimmer of light and atmosphere. Morani exhibits regularly throughout New England and the West coast and has won juror's awards for her work. Her work can be found in public and private collections.

Chance, spontaneity, intuition, and accidents in the process of painting motivates Sasja Lucas in creating paintings, prints, and installations. Her painterly statements are bold in color and form, often fusing geometric and organic forms that allude to cityscapes. Lucas, born in Sumatra, has maintained a studio in Boston for thirty-five years and exhibits widely, including internationally.

Rhode Island artist, Karen Rand Anderson, also interprets landscapes abstractly in paintings that are energized with color and brushwork. Threaded through the bold visual activity, Anderson dangles thin linear marks that hint at the fragility of the natural world. Anderson shows her work nationally and has participated in artist residences internationally.

The public is invited to enjoy the artwork at Gallery 175, located at 175 Main Street in downtown Pawtucket in the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center. The gallery is open daily; the hours are 10 am to 4 pm. A reception for the artists will be held on November 18 from 2 to 3:30 pm.
