Twelve Bay View Academy Students Enjoy A Close Up View Of The Nation’s Capital

Posted

East Providence, RI – Twelve Bay View Academy juniors traveled with Upper School History teacher, Dennis Kennedy (Johnston, RI) to participate in the Close Up program in Washington, DC on the week of Monday, November 2nd.

According to Bay View junior, Kathryn Miller (Bristol, RI), “The Close Up experience helped me become a more informed citizen and created memories that I will carry with me for many years to come.” Students had the opportunity to tour the many monuments and memorials, and examine how major political players made a difference in their time. On a visit to Capitol Hill, they met with Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, and Representative David Cicilline. The students enjoyed asking them about current issues and, Kathryn says, “Their interest in our experience made our time with them even more memorable and exciting.”
