Posted

East Providence, RI – The Bay View Bengals Cross Country Coach, Carol Beaudette (Johnston, RI), has been named Girls Coach of the Year by the Rhode Island Track and Field Coaches Association (RITCA). Bay View’s Varsity Cross Country runners honored Coach Beaudette with a speech at the RITCA Banquet on Monday, November 16th at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI. The girls talked about their goal to make it to New England’s this year - a goal which seemed lofty at the start of the season, but one that came to fruition after winning the Class B Championships and qualifying at States. For that success, they credit Coach Beaudette:

“None of this would have been possible if not for the efforts of the woman whose voice can always be heard first in the crowd, the woman who has taught us that hard work and dedication form the foundation of success in life, the woman who gives us her time and her heart every day.”

The Varsity Cross Country runners are Claire Hanlon (a Junior from East Greenwich, RI, who came in 12th at the State Meet and earned a spot on 2nd Team All-State), Sarah Bain (Junior, Smithfield, RI), Cassandra Gendron (Junior, Cranston, RI), Emma Shaw (Freshman, Warwick, RI), Clara Cruz (Freshman, East Providence, RI), Jamie Tebeau (Senior, West Warwick, RI) and Alexia Mattos (Senior, Saunderstown, RI). The team was the 4th ranked Rhode Island team at the New England Championships. Coach Carol Beaudette is also a Physical Education and Health teacher at Bay View Academy.
