I want to thank Angela Hall and the editors (Are there editors? There can't possibly be editors.) of the East Providence Reporter who, for the second month in a row, have provided an excellent example of bad writing for me to use in my classroom. This month's "Dining Guide" is not that at all, but rather a badly written eulogy filled with run-ons and sentence fragments. It then ends with a recipe that is not even the author's own, the accuracy of which she herself implies may be in question in the context of her article. I once again have read a dining guide which does not provide any mention whatsoever of the plethora of authentic ethnic cuisine available in East Providence, nor has it given me a recipe that I couldn't have found in the latest cooking guide available at your local grocery checkout. Even then, the grammar would at least be readable. Seriously, you need an editor and a new food writer. You have my email. I await your contact.
