Whooo is Out at Night? Come to Audubon and Search for Nocturnal Animals!

(October 8, 2020) – Why do some animals only come out at night? Where do they go and what do they do in the dark? Dive into the world of nocturnal animals with Audubon in November!

Rhode Island COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed for all programs. Small groups are led by Audubon naturalists. Family units are encouraged to participate together. Audubon Private Birding and Natural History Tours
Get out in nature…it’s the safest place to be!
Let an Audubon guide take your group of up to four people on a private two-hour natural history or birdwatching tour in Southeastern New England. Wednesday Morning Bird Walks

Audubon offers small-group Wednesday Morning Bird Walks with naturalist Laura Carberry. Each week a new birding destination will be chosen. Face masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks. Advance registration is required. Location will be sent to registered participants in advance.

Beavers of Fisherville
Audubon Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge, Exeter, RI
November 1, 2020; 5:00-6:30 pm
Join Audubon for an evening walk and discussion regarding the beavers that have taken up residence in the Fisherville Pond. Take a look at beaver dams, lodges and hopefully the beavers themselves. At dusk, these creatures become active, so you may get to see these engineers at work. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight. Face masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks. Advance registration is required.

Chris Powell has been photographing nature for over 50 years. As a park naturalist in Virginia, he used his camera to bring people closer to nature. Today, as a retired marine biologist living in Jamestown, Chris continues to bring the beauty of nature to all, focusing his photography on birds. With his wife, Candy, he has traveled to many parts of the world seeking and photographing birds. From the high Andes Mountains of Ecuador to the rainforest of the Brazilian Amazon, to the Galapagos and Europe as well as many areas of the United States, he has photographed our avian wonders. Sea Glass Jewelry Workshop

Come design and create a beautiful pendant with sea glass found on local beaches. Learn how to choose the right piece of glass and transform it using quick and easy wire wrapping techniques. Owl Prowl at Fort Refuge

Bundle up and join us at the Fort Wildlife Refuge on this winter solstice in search of owls. A naturalist will call for different species of owls as we travel through mixed and pine woods. While we never know if we'll actually get to hear or see an owl, participants will be sure to learn a lot and have a great night hike. Wear warm socks and shoes or boots, dress warmly and bring a flashlight. Face masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks. Advance registration is required.

Join Audubon at Moonstone Beach to search for ducks! Walk along the beach and search Trustom Pond for an assortment of ducks. Look out over the ocean to search for eider, scoter and other sea ducks. Wildlife and Habitat Conservation Talk with Lou Perotti

Roger Williams Park Zoo’s Director of Conservation Programs Lou Perotti will present the ongoing contributions to wildlife and habitat conservation happening here at home and around the globe! Learn about international projects from elephant conservation to amphibian rescue efforts in South America. Perottu will also highlight RWPZ’s captive breeding and reintroduction efforts. This work aids many local threatened and endangered species like the American burying beetle, New England Cottontail rabbit, and Timber Rattlesnake.
