Walter F. Downey, 89, of Wannamoisett Road, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Theresa M. (Bucci) Downey.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Walter P. and Anna T. (Ferns) Downey. Mr. Downey was a Lithographer for Foremost Lithograph before he retired and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Carol A. Tente and her husband Alfred and Susan Downey Jeffrey and her husband Richmond all of East Providence and seven grandchildren. Being with his grandchildren was one of his greatest joys. He was the brother of the late Catherine Ryan and Virginia Sullivan.

His funeral will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-7. Contributions in his memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care would be appreciated.
