Townies vs. Hawks April 11th 4PM at Pierce Field

Rematch after Hawks earlier 4-2 win over EP. East Providence 2-1 on the season to date.

The Townie high school baseball team began the season with back to back wins over Chariho and a loss to Hendricken. The new interscholastic league format this year calls for home and away back to back games with opponents. The Division 1 Townies faced Chariho High last week coming away with two close wins. In the first game EP was scoreless until the last inning. Trailing Chariho 2-0 in the top of the 7th inning. With the bases loaded, Sam Budnick doubled scoring Cole Poissant and Julian Reis. A Zach Fanara sacrifice fly scored Andrew Mongeon and Seth Daly later scored giving EP 4 runs in the 7th inning. Seth Daly pitched into the 7th and gave up just six hits while striking out 8 in the come from behind 4-2 win for East Providence.

In the second game played at Pierce Field, EP defeated Chariho 2-1. Robbie Costa allowed just 5 hits and pitched into the 7th inning for the win. Townie hits came from Josh Silveira, Cole Poissant, Julian Reis and Robbie Costa.

The Townies next traveled to Hendricken High where they lost a close game to the Hawks, 4-2. The Townies and Hawks each had 7 hits in the game. The Hawks scored in the first and third innings while EP scored their runs in the fourth and sixth. Robbie Costa went 2 for 3 hitting and Seth Daly pitched well for EP. The teams play again, this time at Pierce Field 4 pm on Thursday April 11th.
